RSC CO-SPONSORS TRAINING SEMINAR ON EU COMMUNICATIONS

In cooperation with the Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership, the Regional Studies Center (RCS) co-sponsored a two-day training seminar on 20-21 October 2014 for Armenian public sector communicators, journalists and the members of the civil society focused on the development of EU-related communications in Armenia.

Led by the Director of the Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership, Marge Mardisalu-Kahar, the main aim of the seminar in Armenia was to enhance specific communication and media skills to develop the communication of EU’s assistance to Armenia, EU’s budget support to the Armenian government and to increase the visibility of numerous EU-funded projects and programmes. The training also aimed to create a new network of government communicators, civil society organizations and journalists that can be used as a powerful tool in effective EU-related communication.

The keynote lecture of the seminar was delivered by the Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Armenia, Hoa-Binh Adjemian and the panelists included the Founding Director of the Regional Studies Center, Richard Giragosian and the Head of the EU Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Mher Margaryan.

The Estonian Eastern Partnership Center has gathered several communication experts for the seminar, including the Team Leader of the EU Centre in Armenia Ehtel Halliste, communication experts of the EU Centre, Anneli Kimber, Aghavni Harutyunyan and the Editor-in-chief of the Estonian leading online news portal Delfi, Urmo Soonvald.

The two day training event is the third stage of a larger training programme on developing EU communication in Eastern Partnership countries organised by Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership. The programme started in Tbilisi with a multilateral seminar for Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Georgian, Moldovan and Ukrainian public communicators and continued with a study visit to Estonia for Armenian journalists.
