RSC Director Richard Giragosian returned as a guest for Poland’s TVP World News on 3 July, assessing the EU response to the recent Russian imposition of trade restrictions on Armenian exports.
His main point was that “the EU has moved faster than usual to help Armenia withstand Russian trade pressure, but Moscow still has major leverage over Yerevan and is likely to respond harshly.” Giragosian added that “Armenia was not seeking to replace Russia with the EU overnight but was instead pursuing a cautious and gradual deepening of ties with Brussels.”
