In a live interview with the “Talking with TVP World” program for Poland’s TVP World news, RSC Director Richard Giragosian was the guest for a segment entitled, “EU–Russia rivalry over influence in Armenia.”
The program, hosted by Sascha Fahrbach, focused on the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Yerevan as “an important signal of the European Union’s growing engagement in the Caucasus region,” with Giragosian arguing that “by hosting dozens of leaders from across Europe and beyond, Armenia is gaining political recognition from the West and strengthening its ties with the EU, despite its still‑strong connections with Russia.”
Giragosian went on to contend that “at the same time, the European Union is sending a clear message to the world by stepping into a space long regarded as part of Russia’s sphere of influence. All of this comes at a moment of persistent regional tension, as Armenia seeks to redefine its identity and geopolitical orientation.”
