RSC BRIEFS VISITING LATVIAN AND UK PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATIONS

On February 20, RSC Director Richard Giragosian met with a senior Latvian delegation led by Juris Poikāns, Latvia's Ambassador-at-Large for the Eastern Partnership, and Ambassador Elita Gavele, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Armenia.

The RSC director briefed the Latvian delegation on recent developments in Armenia and the wider region, and discussed the future of Armenian relations with the European Union (EU).  Giragosian also offered proposals on how to deepen Armenians activities within the EU’s Eastern Partnership program.  The visit to Armenia of the Latvian delegation was part of their preparation for Latvia’s assumption of the presidency of the EU in January 2015.

RSC BRIEFS VISITING LATVIAN AND UK PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATIONS

The RSC Director then met with a delegation of UK Members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, in Yerevan on an official visit to Armenia by the Inter-Parliamentary Union.  The UK parliamentary delegation was led by MP John Whittingdale, and included Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords Baroness Gloria Hooper, the MP Lord Richard Faulkner, and members of the House of Commons Stephen Pound and Mike Gapes.
