RSC SUPPORT TO THE ITALIAN OSCE CHAIRMANSHIP

As part of our efforts to support the six-month Italian chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which commenced in January 2018, the Regional Studies Center (RSC) held an event in Rome on 13 December 2017.

Hosted by the prestigious Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), the leading think tank in Italy, RSC Director Richard Giragosian offered a presentation on regional developments in the South Caucasus entitled, “The South Caucasus stuck in transition? The view from Armenia” and moderated by Ms. Nona Mikhelidze, the head of the Eastern Europe and Eurasia Programme at the IAI.  Participants included several officials from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as from the diplomatic community in Rome, including the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian embassies.

As an independent think tank in Armenia, the RSC provides the OSCE with analytical support and holds a regular series of events aimed at deepening awareness of the OSCE mission and mandate, as well as its activities in support of security sector reform, democratization and economic development.  Seeking to contribute to Italian efforts at enhancing OSCE efforts in the South Caucasus, despite the lack of a field presence, the RSC is committed to close collaboration and cooperation with the Italian chairmanship through the coming months.
