ARMENIA’S “CROSSROADS OF PEACE” PROJECT

Organized for the government’s Civil Contract party by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), RSC Director Richard Giragosian and RSC Fellow Giacomo Scassellati Sforzolini participated in a conference on the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” project on 12 October 2024.

The conference featured official presentations from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mktchyan, Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Armen Grigoryan, and Parliamentary Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan, along with guest speakers from the European Union (EU), Finland, Georgia, Greece and Turkey.

With a focus on the restoration of trade and transit in the broader South Caucasus and beyond, prominent Armenian parliamentarians Sona Ghazaryan and Maria Karapetyan also provided additional insightful contributions and comments, among others.  Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Romanos Petrosyan, the head of the State Supervision Service, also attended the conference.

Giragosian moderated the panel devoted to the “diversification” of Armenian security policy, with presentations from NSC Secretary Armen Grigoryan, Tyyne Karjalainen of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, and Marek Kuberski, the acting head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia (EUMA).
