RSC APRIL 2014 MONTHLY CLOSED BRIEFING

The Regional Studies Center (RSC) held its latest closed monthly briefing on April 30, consisting of a comprehensive analysis of recent political, economic and military security trends in the region, but with a detailed assessment of the new Armenian government, as well as an added report on recent RSC events and working visits to Tbilisi and Turkey.

Several senior diplomats attended the briefing, including Lithuanian Ambassador Erikas Petrikas, Brazilian Ambassador to Armenia Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro and Mr. Paulo Borda Silos, the recently arrived First Secretary at the Embassy of Brazil, Ambassador Oleksandr Pavlyuk, the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) of the Council of Europe (CoE) and the Head of Office in Armenia.

Other participants included Dr. Radka Rubilina, Human Rights Officer at the OSCE Office in Yerevan, Mr. Jan Huisman and Colonel Sybren van Klaarbergen, the Policy Officer and Defence Attaché respectively, visiting Yerevan from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tbilisi, respectively, and officials from the Embassies of Bulgaria, Estonia, Germany, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom, as well as representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the Central Bank of Armenia.

As an independent “think tank,” the Regional Studies Center (RSC) offers a regular series of monthly briefings in order to serve as more of a resource for the diplomatic community and international organizations in Armenia by providing an alternative source of objective analysis and information on a regular monthly basis.
